November 5, 2015
San Antonio has made serious plans for the Downtown area growth. The city currently has over 4,000 new housing units either open or under construction. The growth of the downtown area has been considered part of the reason that San Antonio has seen an increase in millennial residents. According to Forbes.com San Antonio has experienced a growth of the millennial population of 9.2% between 2010 and 2013, more than Houston, Austin and Dallas.
While some may consider the downtown area expensive compared to other cities, San Antonio is a lot more affordable for millennials. San Antonio is also below the national unemployment average. There are multiple opportunities for higher education, siting both UTSA campuses, The University of Incarnate Word, Trinity, Our Lady of the Lake, St. Mary’s University, Texas AM San Antonio and countless community and specialty schools.
San Antonio is bringing big entertainment to the city and maintaining the existing venues. Between the championships winning Spurs, Top Golf, musical acts at the ATT Center, breweries and re-purposing or livening up areas, such as The Tobin Center, The Mc Nay and Witte Museum and turning them into something that benefits the San Antonio economy, San Antonio residents have never had so many entertainment options.
San Antonio isn’t just keeping up with the future, San Antonio is the future.
